Welcome to the ODMS Counseling Department
Mission:
O'Donnell Middle School Counselors will partner with the school and community in providing resources that encourage and maximize student success in a caring and safe environment. ODMS Counselors provide services in accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC) 33.005 and follow the Texas Model for School Counseling Programs.
Each child will have the opportunity to participate in one or more of the following programs:
Anger Management: Specialized group which focuses on dealing with and controlling anger.
Group Counseling: Provides students the opportunity to understand and be taught--appropriate behavior, goal setting, social skills, leadership, and organizational skills.
Individual/Mentoring: Offered to those students having some academic or personal concerns. Students may be referred by a teacher or parent.
SAP (Student Assistant Program): Designed to promote leadership skills, positive self-esteem, good academic performance, and responsible decision-making.
College & Career Exploration: Students have an opportunity to select an endorsement, a career cluster, and create their personalized high school graduation plan.

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year! My name is Tara Francis. I have been a Professional School Counselor for over 15 years and an educator of youth for over 25 years. Previously, I was a Counselor at Klentzman Intermediate.
I love helping young scholars grow academically and socially throughout their Middle school years. My connection with youth beyond counseling is through my role as a club sponsor for College-Bound Kids, as well as Student Council. I have my undergraduate degree in Special Education and a Master’s degree in Counseling. I am a proud alumni of Prairie View A &M University.
I love spending time with family, traveling the country/world, and being a lifelong learner.
It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with students, families, Business Partners, and our amazing staff at O'Donnell Middle School. Let's make it an awesome school year. Help us put the "Extra" in Ordinary!
